How to Create a Vision Board

A vision board isn’t just a collage of pretty pictures — it’s a visual prayer, a love letter to the life you’re creating. It’s about seeing your goals before they happen and aligning your energy with them every single day.

When I started making vision boards, I thought it was just a Pinterest-inspired craft. But over time, I realized it’s actually an act of self-discovery — a way to understand what I truly desire and what kind of person I’m becoming.

Here’s how I create mine, step by step.

Step 1: Set the Mood

Creating a vision board is personal, so make the process feel intentional.
Light your favorite candle (mine’s Pistachio Macaron by La Jolie Muse lately), make a cup of coffee, and put on a playlist that makes you feel inspired and grounded.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want this next season of my life to look like?

  • How do I want to feel — not just what I want to have?

Your answers don’t have to be perfect. Just be honest.

Step 2: Reflect on What You Want

Before you start gluing or pinning anything, take time to journal.
Write out your goals for the next few months or year — big or small. Think in categories like:

  • ✨ Personal growth (confidence, healing, peace)

  • 💼 Career/education (projects, internships, new opportunities)

  • 🌸 Wellness (self-care, mental health, movement)

  • 🏡 Lifestyle (travel, decor, routines, experiences)

  • 💕 Relationships (friendships, self-love, boundaries)

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s clarity.

Step 3: Gather Your Inspiration

Here’s the fun part — collecting visuals that represent your dream life.
You can find them anywhere: Pinterest, magazines, or even photos from your camera roll.

Save or cut out anything that sparks something inside you. Don’t overthink it.
Maybe it’s an image of a clean, sunlit apartment, a journal and coffee on a desk, a confident woman walking through the city, or words like peace, consistency, abundance.

I love using Pinterest boards to gather everything digitally before printing them out — it helps me see patterns in what I’m drawn to.

Step 4: Create Your Board

You can go physical or digital — it’s totally up to your vibe.

If you’re going physical:

  • Grab a corkboard or poster board, scissors, glue, and tape.

  • Lay everything out before attaching it — make sure it feels balanced and inspiring.

  • Add affirmations or words that speak to your soul.

If you’re going digital:

  • Use Canva, Notion, or Pinterest to design your collage.

  • Set it as your phone or laptop wallpaper so you see it daily.

Pro tip: Include pictures of yourself looking happy, calm, and confident — your mind connects faster to images that already include you in them.

Step 5: Speak Life Into It

Once your board is complete, take a moment to be still.
Look at every image and let it represent not just a dream, but a direction.

Say affirmations like:

“I am attracting the life that’s meant for me.”
“Everything I desire is already on its way.”
“I am capable, grounded, and in alignment with my purpose.”

It’s not magic — it’s mindfulness. The board is your reminder to stay aligned with your goals even on hard days.

Step 6: Keep It Visible

Put your vision board somewhere you’ll see it every day — above your desk, next to your mirror, or as your screensaver.
Let it be a quiet motivator, not pressure.

Revisit it every few months. Add, remove, and refresh as you evolve — because growth means change, and your dreams should evolve with you.

Final Thoughts

Creating a vision board isn’t about controlling the future — it’s about connecting with it.
It’s a way to remind yourself that the life you dream of isn’t out of reach — it’s already taking shape, one small choice at a time.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to believe that you deserve what you’re asking for.
