My Physical Self-Care & Beauty Maintenance Routine
There’s something sacred about routine.
The way your body starts to recognize care as comfort.
The way scent, texture, and sound can ground you when life feels too loud.
For me, physical self-care isn’t about vanity — it’s about honoring the body that carries me. It’s showing up for myself in softness, even when no one’s watching.
Morning: Skin, Scent, and Small Rituals
Mornings are slow and intentional — sunlight pouring through my dorm window, my Nespresso machine humming quietly, and the sweet swirl of caramel macchiato creamer mixing with espresso.
After a few deep breaths and a sip of warmth, I start my skincare ritual.
My Morning Skincare Routine:
Cleanser: ANUA Heartleaf Quercetinol Pore Deep Cleansing Foam — it’s gentle yet thorough, leaving my skin refreshed and balanced.
Serum: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid — my forever hydration staple.
Moisturizer: La Roche-Posay Double Repair Moisturizer — lightweight, silky, and soothing.
Morning Touches:
A spritz of Commodity Milk — cozy, creamy, and subtly sweet.
Gold hoops, shiny brown lip gloss, and my dainty everyday necklace.
A quiet moment with my journal or Pinterest before the day begins.
Afternoon: Movement, Hydration, and Touch-Ups
By mid-day, I like to step away from the noise — even if it’s just a walk across campus or through the D.C. streets I now call home. Movement helps me feel present.
Midday Essentials:
Laneige Lip Glowy Balm — glossy, hydrating, effortless.
Evian Facial Spray — a mist of freshness.
Touchland Hand Sanitizer — clean, fragrant, and aesthetic.
Water Bottle: my Stanley— because hydration is elegance too.
Sometimes I scroll through TikTok or Pinterest while sipping an iced coffee, letting my mind wander and refocus.
Evening: Showers, Skin, and Softness
Evenings are my favorite part of the day — when I wash away the noise and start again. My dorm becomes a little spa — warm lights, candle flickering, soft music humming low.
My Shower Routine:
Body Wash: Olay Spoonful of Sugar — smells warm, sweet, and leaves my skin glowing.
Exfoliator: Dove Brown Sugar Body Scrub — rich, buttery, and gentle enough for everyday use.
Razor: Gillette 5-Blade Men’s Razor — smooth, sharp, and the only one that gets the job done right.
Body Oil: Neutrogena Light Sesame Body Oil — applied while my skin’s still damp for that soft, silky finish.
Post-Shower Routine:
Body Butter: Fenty Skin Butta Drop Whipped Oil Cream — luxurious, moisturizing, and deliciously scented.
Deodorant: Donna Karan Cashmere Mist — powdery, elegant, and feminine.
Perfume: Commodity Milk — my signature scent; warm, milky, and comforting.
Hair: A light layer of oil on my braids to keep them nourished and sleek.
Weekly Beauty Maintenance
Every week, I dedicate a little time to maintain and reset — not out of pressure, but out of peace.
Weekly Rituals:
Fresh white or nude nails — my clean girl staple.
Brow grooming — minimal, soft shaping.
Braid refresh & scalp care.
Laundry & clean sheets — because comfort begins with cleanliness.
Full exfoliation night: candlelight, playlist, and my favorite products — it’s self-care therapy.
Softness as a Lifestyle
My self-care and beauty routine is a reflection of who I’m becoming — grounded, intentional, and gentle with herself.
It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being present — about celebrating softness as strength, and maintenance as mindfulness.
Every scent, every product, every slow ritual is a reminder:
I am worth the time it takes to care for me.
